If you haven't explored the Mudgee wine district, try this: gather a bunch of good friends, get a people mover and start visiting cellar doors. In the evenings, you can return home with your booty of wine to these two classic Mudgee cottages – Primo and Bliss. We'll let the words of one Blissed-out guest last year capture the mood: "Beautiful house, beautiful fire, wonderful way to catch up with friends with a glass of wine!"

Bliss was built in the 1890s and has been superbly renovated. The interior has a quiet calm that is accented by its white walls and delightful furnishings that hint at French country style. There are three queen bedrooms and an inviting kitchen-dining area out the back for cooking up the generous supply of breakfast provisions. Bliss is an adults-only house whereas at Primo, children are very welcome. Primo is an early 1900s red brick house with three comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a colonial air that is highlighted by a broad, flagstoned front verandah.

The owners live elsewhere but are available for advice on your Mudgee stay. Nearby are bicycling tracks, parklands and the town centre with cafes, restaurants, galleries and shops to explore.
