| Our 40-hectare property is surrounded by forests and lakes with 1 km bordering the Donnelly River. Late in winter the river bursts its banks, flooding the lower paddocks to form a waterbird paradise. Guests can enjoy the interpretative experience of the self-guided bushwalk which has 25 stations and can take an hour and a half to complete. This allows you to explore the river's edge, floodplains, lakes and forests. Donnelly Lakes is a member of Land for Wildlife and is a nature lovers' paradise. There are 75 bird species found on the property, so don't forget to bring along your binoculars and bird identification books. The new dam was built as a sanctuary for water birds and has attracted a great number of spoonbills, heron and Ibis. The upper paddock is a favourite meeting place for mobs of kangaroos. The kangaroo viewing hide is designed to allow guests the opportunity to observe kangaroos in their natural surroundings. In the evenings you may bborrow the spotlight so you can view them. |
