The
area is predominately a rural residential area of executive type houses
set on large acreage blocks. Samford is an expanding village within
easy commuting distance to Brisbane. The
airconditioned electric train runs from the end of the line at Ferny
Grove 12 minutes from the property giving fast transport to the city
centre in 30 minutes, the large station car park is free. Nearby
are
the rainforests of Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious National Parks ideal
places to visit for their views, picnic spots, birdwatching and bushwalks.
A scenic tourist road runs through the Samford Valley to the summit
of the mountain, and then descends to Wivenhoe and Somerset Dams on
the western side for fishing, walks and sailing. At
Ferny Grove there is the Australian Woolshed which attracts tourists
from around the world. Wedding
venues are at the local churches, halls, bowls clubs, showground,
Bickles Restaurant, halls at nearby Samsonvale and Cedar Creek
and garden weddings within the picturesque area. Horse
riding at the nearby Samford show ground, Samsonvale and Mt Mee.
The Town of Yesteryear at Dayboro is just a short drive away by
Lake Samsonvale, where you can visit the craft shops, emu and deer
farms and restaurants. From there towards Petrie are the large
Sunday markets at the North Pine. The Samford Showgrounds
are five minutes away down the road where many shows and equestrian
events are held. Within about an hour's drive are the Sunshine Coast, Bribie Island, Maleny, Flaxton and Mapleton. |
