There are many hotels in Sydney but only one Simpsons of Potts Point, the small intimate hotel created from the restoration of an 1892 stately Potts Point mansion. To stay as a guest in one of our fourteen rooms is to experience the charm and spaciousness of an era long past.
The charm and sophistication of European cities is reflected in the gracious, elegant small hotels found near their centre. In Sydney, Simpsons of Potts Point is a luxurious, historic hotel offering a brilliant example of restored architectural heritage and contemporary comfort. |

Built as the family residence of John Lane Mullins, a member of the New South Wales Colonial Parliament, Simpsons was designed in 1892 by leading Sydney architect, John Bede Barlow. The glory of this house has been recaptured in the imaginative restoration which provides spacious rooms, grand halls and stained glass windows. A different range of arts and crafts decorations of the period enhances these. Exquisite prints from the hand of the renowned Australian artist Ellis Rowan, and friezes of Australian flora have been drawn from the collections of Sydneys premier museum, the Powerhouse. All rooms or suites are individually airconditioned (as well as having ceiling fans). All feature STD/ISD telephones and ensuite bathrooms. They are furnished with superb decorative detail. Freshly-aired fluffy towels and bathrobes, scented Australian soaps and other fine touches are genteel adornments. The day for our guests starts with a pleasurable awakening to a continental breakfast with freshly-squeezed orange juice, tea or coffee, croissants or brioches and pastries with your choice of conserves. This can be enjoyed in your room, accompanied by the morning newspaper, or in our light and airy conservatory. Complimentary tea and coffee are available there throughout the day. At Simpsons we are proud of our different heritage and we invite you to share it with us. Our promise is to provide you with elegant hospitality in the most pleasant of surroundings. Breakfast is served in the Conservatory. Check in from 2.00pm; check out by 10am. |
