Stafford Villa Qualmark 5

Stafford Villa, a heritage-listed double-bay villa, was built in 1903 in the elegant plantation style with European touches.

The house has been restored to its former grandeur with full return verandahs on two levels. Most of the furniture, especially the oriental antiques, have been collected over the years by Chris and Mark on their travels.

Located in Auckland's seaside suburb of Birkenhead Point just over the Auckland Harbour Bridge, the house is in a sheltered valley facing north, and is set in a garden of tropical and native trees mixed with roses and lavender.

A short stroll will bring you to local cafes, restaurants and boutique shopping. The villa is ten minutes from downtown Auckland by car or ferry. The ferry terminal is a short walk from the villa. Birkenhead Point is one of the original maritime Victorian suburbs of Auckland. Surrounded by three beaches, with excellent nature walks, it is tranquil.

Birkenhead has become a mecca for restaurants and boutique shopping… and it is just nine minutes by ferry (or ten minutes by car) from the CBD.

Included in your tariff:

  • afternoon tea on arrival
  • five-course breakfast
  • fresh fruits and flowers, handmade chocolates
  • selection of teas and coffee with cookies, sherry and port
  • wireless internet, daily newspaper
  • special toiletries and lots of little extras.

  • entry to the New Zealand National Maritime Museum offering 'The Pacific Theatre', 14 exhibition galleries, working heritage sailing fleet and the maritime library (value NZ$32)

  • one-hour sailing excursion on the inner harbour and Viaduct Basin on Ted Ashby, a ketch-rigged deck scow typical of the fleet of scows that once operated in northern New Zealand waters (value NZ$56)
  • Voyager Maritime Museum is a short 10-minute ferry ride from Birkenhead Point.
