Ted Woolrich, the son of one of the early settlers in the hills, established the Woolrich nursery, later known as Range View, in 1919. The property contains plantings of exotic trees such as weeping beeches, copper beeches, elms, tulip trees and conifers, as well as rhododendrons that are more mature than those found in most Dandenong properties. The significance of the site lies in the glimpses of former times and former uses – this is a secret garden which has its own tangled wood of rhododendrons and an azalea maze. Woolrich Cottage sits in the midst of this. |

This stylish Art Deco property allows one couple or two to enjoy a complete retreat from everyday routine… walk, explore, spot a lyrebird, laze by the fire, relax in the spa or just soak in the view from the deck – whatever you desire, a perfect getaway is available here. |

Rangeview Gardens… These unusual gardens show what can happen when a plant nursery has been abandoned for forty years. Beds of rhododendron and camellia seedlings have grown into tall tree, crowded together and reaching for the sky. Azaleas create a colourful maze, and there are many specimen trees about the garden, including a magnificent weeping beech. The old paths and steps have been restored to create some fascinating walks. Lyrebirds are common visitors and delight in digging up the garden, but they are hard to spot and likely to run off when disturbed. The colours in spring and autumn are spectacular, but the garden provides a green haven at any time of year. |
